                                             MANASOTA KEY

 

 "Get ready for a ride to Paradise with front row seats!"

The Gulf Coast boasts dazzling blue waters and pristine beaches.  Some are packed with action and some offer secluded sands covered with sea oats and silent dunes.  Manasota Key, a barrier island off the coast of Englewood, Florida is just 90 miles north of Naples and 35 miles south of Sarasota.  You won't find any traffic lites or high rise buildings here.  Just warm tropical breezes and the ultimate in island living.

 

Manasota Beach or North Beach

Located at the northern end of Manasota Key,  this is the beach to relax on with a good book or a quiet picnic lunch.  This beach has restrooms, a boardwalk, Free parking, a picnic area and year-round lifeguards.  There is a boat launch across the street as well as additional parking.  There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance.

 

 

Blind Pass or Middle Beach

Located 3.5 miles south of Manasota Beach, you can walk this long beach north for miles and miles, searching the sands for Shark's teeth.  For the ultimate in peace and quiet, this should be your destination.  The Free parking area and playground are across the street along with a launch for kayaks and canoes.   However, there are no lifeguards here.  Pets are not permitted and there are no restaurants or shops in the area either.

 

 

 

 

 Englewood Beach or Chadwick Beach

Located on Beach Road 3-4 miles south of Blind Pass/ Middle Beach.  This is the larger of the beaches, more crowded, and close to restaurants and shops.  There are also scooter and boat rentals nearby.  There is also a $.50 per hour charge for parking.  Please pay attention to this.  The Sheriff's Dept. does patrol and the fine is $68 for failure to pay the 50 cents.  There are no pets permitted here.  There is a large pavilion that seats 120 people.  Picnic shelters (6 tables) for large groups rent for $5 per hour.  Four smaller picnic areas are available at no charge.  In 2002, the boardwalk and facilities were rebuilt.  Playground, volleyball and basketball courts are here.

Stump Pass Beach State Park

Located between beautiful Lemon Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, Stump Pass Beach State Park is where 90% of visitors come to go Shelling.  This beach is only one foot above sea level.  There are never any crowds here.  The water is sparkling clean, so take a dip along the way inspecting the local plants and trees.  However, there are no lifeguards, so swimming is at your own risk.  Stump Pass Beach State Park is the newest and most pristine of all the beaches.  Here you can stroll the nature walks or simply launch your kayak into the bay.  There are 40 parking spaces with a $2 Honor Donation requested for up to 8 people per vehicle.  No pets are allowed and there is no picnic area.
